• Once you have your documentary idea start to research  content: facts and information you might need (for questions, voice over, text/graphics etc.)
• You will also need to research existing documentaries: you have done several case studies and could use these, for ideas on style and technique. You may also find it useful to look at documentaries on similar topics. Watch and note down anything useful.

In terms of research I need to consider the different factors I want for example a voiceover to make sure I capture I the right level of sound instead of using my phone to record a voiceover and I need to take into consideration that I need to use a microphone or a tape recorder so that when im editing it would be easier to the control the volume levels . I want the documentary to look as professionals as possible so therefore if I wanted to use text , computer graphics would look the most professional so for example if I wanted to show a logo I would design it on a graphic software such as Adobe Photoshop , you can develop and adapt the text into a graphic so that it fits right in with the documentary . When using facts in documentaries they have to be truthful because you might to submit the documentary into a competition , so when using facts its always good to be truthful.

Existing Documentaries  

1. Kitch Documentary

This is a documentary I made , I thought it was observational but it happened to be a mixture of all three types of documentaries , this is a prime example of what I want to produce for my 5 minute documentary due to the fact it includes most of the techniques and aspects I want now include in this documentary . This documentary is of a similar topic for example this documentary is about a rapper with a story and the documentary I am about to make is about  music producer who also happens to have a story to tell . This documentary includes voiceovers , observational shots , it just doesn't have  interviews which is what I defiantly what I want to use.




2. Expository Documentary

This documentary is about ex , relationships and social media , this documentary has only interviews in it and a bit of presenting in it , it also includes various voiceover saying the questions that are mentioned in the documentary . The topic has know the relation to the documentary I want to but it involves content I want to use in my 5 minute documentary for example the interviews and the voiceovers are exactly what I want to incorporate in my documentary , they are self exampliantory content which helps tells the story if there is one . I just like the way this documentary is structured .
