Research (5 mins Doc)
Research - blog
- Once you have your documentary idea start to research content: facts and information you might need (for questions, voice over, text/graphics etc.)
- You will also need to research existing documentaries: you have done several case studies and could use these, for ideas on style and technique. You may also find it useful to look at documentaries on similar topics. Watch and note down anything useful.
In terms of research I need to consider the different factors I want for example a voiceover to make sure I capture I the right level of sound instead of using my phone to record a voiceover and I need to take into consideration that I need to use a microphone or a tape recorder so that when im editing it would be easier to the control the volume levels . I want the documentary to look as professionals as possible so therefore if I wanted to use text , computer graphics would look the most professional so for example if I wanted to show a logo I would design it on a graphic software such as Adobe Photoshop , you can develop and adapt the text into a graphic so that it fits right in with the documentary . When using facts in documentaries they have to be truthful because you might to submit the documentary into a competition , so when using facts its always good to be truthful.
