First Print Analysis

This a coca cola advert . First of all we are going to be talking about denotation which is what we can clearly see and what is the apparent meaning, for example in this advert I can see a man who could possibly be a musician because of what he appears to be holding which is an instrument (guitar) . I can also see that he has a bottle of coca cola in his hand , which is actually the first thing most people will see because the foreground is in focus and the background is blurred out this is called shallow depth of field , the reason why they have done this is because the main aim is to get the audience to purely focus on the bottle of coke which is the product of the brand , meaning everything else surrounding it isn't as important . What we can actually connote from this that the man who appears to be a musician is coming from a festival or some kind of event and just needs a drink for example coke to quench his thirst.
Another thing we can speak about is stylistic codes for example colour the way the majority of the advert is the colour black , this could possibly suggest darkness and that coca cola is the light. The universal symbol (which could also be anchorage) for coca cola is actually the slogan "taste the feeling" they apply it on every advert they do ,this is the piece of text that adds the most meaning because its actually a metaphor because you can't taste the feeling . The logo for the coca cola is reflecting their brand they have the same font on both the logo and the product , and sometimes with their logo they have hidden meanings such as there could be a coca cola glass hidden within the font , the coca logo is fully recognised around the world .
In terms of Mise en scene such as lightning , they added that key bit of lightning shown in the advert for a particular reason , its too showcase the coco cola brand and shine some light on their coca cola bottle. in terms of framing , they have incorporated everything within just one frame and very close net. The props is the guitar and the coca cola bottle , the main thing we are going to be talking about is the coca cola bottle , because that is clearly the point of focus in this advert because it's the one thing they want the audience to take interest in .
The shot type for this advert is actually a mid shot , the reason i believe coca cola have used this particular shot is because they want to capture the facial expression of the man and also so that the coca cola bottle is the main attraction in the framing , for example if they'd used a long shot the coca cola bottle wouldn't stand out as much as were it does by using a mid shot .
Overall the advert is made to persuade and create human emotion , so that the audience can invest in the product they are advertising , which in this case is coca cola , everything is put in this advert for a particular reason for example there is a reason why they chose to use a man over a women in this advert , they have composed and structured this so what its more effective to the audience who views it .
